Our Woking, Our World –An afternoon to develop community action to tackle climate change
Provisional programme and registration details are here.
Our Woking, Our World’ is an opportunity to meet with others in Woking and start a journey together to create a beacon town for sustainability, somewhere where green living is celebrated, low carbon enterprises flourish and every member of our community is working together to ensure we leave our children with a world we would all be happy to inherit.
We aim for everyone to come away from the event:
- Having thought more about the relevance of sustainability to you and your group
- Feeling inspired to take action, knowing you are not alone
- Knowing how to contact others doing similar things
- Knowing where to find out more
- Knowing how to start effecting change
- Feeling confident about spreading the word to others
For some of us, environmental issues have been a concern for some time. For others, they are becoming a bigger issue as energy and food prices rise. At LA21, we believe that together we can make a difference: that the future of our planet is in all our hands.
We would like to invite you to take part in this event. Attendance is free; all you need is enthusiasm, ideas and a sense of possibility!
The event will be held on Saturday 14th March 2009 in the Kemp Room of the HG Wells Suite, with registration from 1.30 pm for a start at 2.00. Afternoon tea will be provided. We will aim to finish at 5.30 pm.
Please see here to see the programme and register for the event.
We see this event as just the start. We are aiming to follow up later this year with a community-led month of fun events themed around sustainability and climate change – we hope you will feel inspired to be part of that, and indeed to help us create it.
Woking LA21 (Woking Action for the 21st Century) has been the force behind many of the successful projects you will be familiar with such as Gardening for Life, Woking Green Pages and the Greener Homes Guide, and has run many public meetings and events to help Woking residents live more sustainably.
