Sixth form students from Fullbrook school removing invasive laurel

Last week saw the end of removing invasive laurel from the Lye until next autumn. The WBG monthly group session took place on the 15 March and a further session was held on the 16 March when we were joined by enthusiastic students from Fullbrook school. Unfortunately the final session planned with the Army for the 20 March was cancelled at the last minute due to the virus restrictions. The latter was a shame as the Army trainees were due to help us clear up and burn the brash. Despite this, March was a very good month for work on the Lye. We believe we have cleared up to 95% of laurel along the west side of the tarmac road and have certainly delayed the spread further west.

No more work is now allowed on the Lye at the moment until further notice. We will keep everyone posted when we know about restarting further sessions.
