News from St John’s Lye

The biodiversity team had an excellent session last Wednesday, February 2nd, at St John’s Lye. Favourable conditions allowed the team to burn the majority of laurel brash, which had been previously cut down. This will be the last burn for this winter. Remaining brash will be left to rot down naturally. Our next session on the Lye will be Sunday 20th of February at 10am. The team hopes to remove some laurel in a small patch further along the stream towards the old football pitch and also hopes to remove saplings from the heathland area. Some will be replanted in the previously cleared areas. Hope to see some volunteers on February 20th.
