Get involved in Woking’s Great Big Green Week!

Would you like to get involved in Woking’s biggest event for nature and climate – join in with Great Big Green Week – 24 September to 2 October 2022.

Great Big Green Week is an initiative organised by The Climate Coalition. The first Great Big Green Week took place between 18 – 26 September 2021, and was the largest event for climate and nature ever seen in the UK.  More than 200 Local Green Weeks celebrated local activity, raised the profile of climate change and showed why climate action is relevant to community and local decision makers. Here in Woking WEAct co-ordinated a  programme of events for the week including Net-Zero Visioning Walks, Biodiversity Volunteering Days and a climate debate with local MP Jonathan Lord.

We want to make Woking Great Big Green Week 2022 (24 September – 2 October 2022) bigger and better than last year’s – and that’s why we are calling on local organisations, businesses and community groups to join us by organising an event, display or other initiative during the week. It could be anything from a litter pick,

This year we are theming our Great Big Green Week (GBGW) activities around ‘Woking Takes the Jump’. ‘The Jump’ is a positive climate movement which encourages individuals or groups to sign up to one or more of six life ‘shifts’. These life shifts help individuals take action on climate change whilst promoting community and wellbeing at the same time. We would particularly encourage GBGW events/initiatives linked to The Jump shifts – you can find out more details here.

If you are interested in getting involved, we would love to hear your ideas. Equally, if you require further information about Woking Great Big Green Week, please let us know and one of our members would be happy to discuss it further with you.
