News from our Biodiversity Group

On Sunday 28 August, the Woking Biodiversity group returned to Woking Park for the last balsam removal session of the year. Starting from the Skate Park, they worked east along the Hoe Stream, removing invasive Himalayan balsam from both sides of the path, as far as the stile. Some plants on the sloping bank are out of reach, as are those growing on the opposite bank bordering on White Rose Lane gardens. The clearance work done will reduce the spread of the balsam and enable other plants to prosper, including brambles. There are now lots of ripe blackberries accessible on the south side of the path!

September/October will bring the opportunity to engage in new Biodiversity sessions. Please contactwoking.biodiversity@outlook.com for more information.
