“The Woking Biodiversity Group have been active during October and November. The majority of our work has been focused on St Johns Lye. In Oct we scythed down and cleared up our wildflower areas and were joined on one occasion by members of the Link Able Group (a local charity) which helped us considerably. In November we concentrated on the heathland area and removed invasive saplings to protect the existing heather and gorse. Several sessions were held and included one session of 12 volunteers from Affinity Water. The latter have agreed to provide us with assistance throughout the year and our arrangement has proved very successful over the past two years.”
Our photograph shows some of our Linkable volunteers at work.
