The Climate Action Group was established in 2020 and has two aims:
1. To work with Woking Borough Council as a critical friend to influence them to meet their net-zero goals.
One of the ways we do this is through our presence on the council’s Greener Woking Working Group. We consider papers from the council and make appropriate recommendations regarding their climate plans and progress.
2. To raise awareness of the climate emergency in Woking and engage the community in climate action.
We do this through hosting events such as Woking Great Big Green Week and we are currently planning for GBGW 2023 which will take place between 10 – 18 June.
The Climate Action Group meets on the first Thursday of each month, usually between 6.30 – 8pm, either via Zoom or in person in Woking. In between meetings we communicate ideas via What’s app.
All are welcome to join us, no prior knowledge regarding climate change is required – just your enthusiasm and ideas!
