Climate and Nature Bill

WEAct took part in the Mass Lobby of Parliament for Climate and Nature, “Act Now, Change Forever” on 9th July 2025 and met with our MP Will Forster. We were delighted that students from St John the Baptist School were alongside us taking part. The Woking News and Mail published the article below.

  • Meets its agreed climate target of 1.5C
  • Takes responsibility for its entire carbon footprint
  • Halts and reverses UK nature loss by 2030 and
  • Involves the public in planning a way forward.

The Bill had the support of over 200 MPs and Peers from all major political parties including Woking’s MP, Will Forster. It had its second reading in Parliament on 24 January 2025, but was not put to a vote, but commitments were given by the Government to keep its principles at the heart of environmental policy. See here for more information.

Letters from the Global South

Created by Zero Hour and Muslims Declare, this pop-up exhibition is designed to raise awareness about the CAN Bill. It provides an accessible introduction to key scientific principles behind the climate and nature emergency. What is particularly special about the exhibition is the focus on countries that are experiencing the worst effects of climate change, and hearing from children and young people in those countries. These countries have done the least to cause the crisis.

The exhibition is on a tour of the UK and has been hosted in Woking at the venues shown in the gallery below.
If you missed the exhibition or you would like to find out more, here are some supporting resources you can take a look at:

  • “A very moving exhibition highlighting the catastrophic affects the climate crisis is having on the Global South. A hugely important message that needs as much traction as possible. Excellent resources to take back to school.”
  • “Thank you for an interesting display. Great to hear what the younger generations are saying.”
  • “Great to see such a timely, moving and important exhibition in the heart of Woking! So good to see young people’s voices represented in this way. Thank you!”
  • “Very impressed with this exhibition! An amazing range of ideas and the children’s contribution from each country was fascinating. Also noting we, in the north, produce 80% of the world CO2 and in the south, the  remaining 20%.”
