National Emergency Briefing

When credible evidence of national risk is available, institutions have a responsibility to ensure the public is informed.” – National Emergency Briefing webpage

The National Emergency Briefing that took place in November 2025 was the first of its kind. Climate scientists and experts from across the UK came together to share credible, peer-reviewed findings of what we can expect in the near future if climate change remains unaddressed by our leaders and communities. In short, it is the inability to continue living as we currently do. Not only in terms of enjoying life’s privileges, but for many remaining alive altogether. Inaction is putting billions of lives at risk all over the world – and the UK is no exception.

The briefing covered 9 specific areas of concern, from national security to weather extremes and food security. Each topic was concise and accessible, so we encourage you to watch these for yourselves. But don’t worry, all is not lost. Evidence shows that urgent action can stabilise the rapid decline of our planet’s carefully balanced systems, and even reverse this decline in several ways. This same urgent action would also strengthen our economy, resilience, and quality of life in the UK.

Although this was mainly a call to action for national leaders, from politicians to key figures in business, culture, faith, sport, and the media, we as the public can take action to protect our lives and the planet we call home as well. The National Emergency Briefing calls on us to sign this open letter calling for multi-channel, prime-time televising of the briefing itself, and messaging local MPs and council members to do the same. We can also promote this briefing by sharing, liking, or following it on social media (YouTube channel, Instagram) and registering our interest in a Spring 2026 screening of the briefing. This ensures as many people can be informed as possible and pressure can be applied for real change.

Understanding the issues we face is the first step to addressing them, and doing this together ensures no one is left behind.
