This national campaign, founded in response to the decline in biodiversity in the UK, encourages councils and the public to rewild their green spaces.

How to get involved
- Identify grass verges and roundabouts near where you live, which are suitable to be left uncut.
- Gain local resident support to rewild this area, especially people whose properties are directly in front of the proposed verge.
- Contact the Council for an assessment to ensure this area is suitable โ you can do this online.
- Once approved, you can plant a blue heart sign in the verge.
๐๐๐ WEAct is offering a wooden blue heart sign to the first 20 approved requests from WEAct members. ๐๐๐
Once Approved
- Council staff will record the Blue Heart location and notify the grass-cutting contractor who manages this verge to bypass this area on their route.
- If a partial cut is needed for safety or access reasons, they will cut the sight lines or may reduce the cut to only a 1 metre strip along the road or pavement.
- All verges, including Blue Heart locations, will have one full-width cut each Autumn.
